Belle's Litter - Weeks 6 to 8

WEEKS  6 - 8

On the pups 8 week birthday, I met my friend Millie Pentland as she passed through Morgantown, WV (about 70 miles south of me)  to have a second set of eyes take a look at the gang.  With her help, we got some good "show pose" pictures of them.

"Nike"

M1 - Black, white rear paws, token strip on chest

Nike is a very sweet boy who looks like he will remain black.  He cracks me up as he reminds me so much of his father.  He is not a leader - but  is not exactly a follower either.  He likes to hang out in the group or with me but rather than participating initially in playing or exploring, he will watch to see what the others do - then he'll learn from their mistakes and when he goes to do something, he will do it right the first time.  He is well "put together" but is on the small and dainty side - too petite to be a show dog though if he were a girl, he'd be just fine.  Based on his 7" height at 6 weeks and 7 1/4 at 7 weeks, he will probably end up being about 14 1/2" tall and weighing around 16 ti 18 pounds.

Nike and paper towel tube
Like kids everywhere - buy them fancy toys and they'll play with the boxes...  In this case, at 6 weeks, he was getting ready to chew and roll the paper towel tube.
"Buster Brown"

M2 - Sable

Buster is a gorgeous guy who was born with the white marking between/above his eyes known as the "Kiss of  Buddha"  which is supposed to be a fortuitious sign.  He is very sweet and an agreeable fellow.  Though structurally he'd be a great show dog, he is the kind who wants to be very sure before he becomes involved with anything and is definitely a follower rather than a leader.  He's always the second one to climb over the puppy gate in the morning - waiting to make sure Sneakers has scared away the "bogeyman" who might be lurking in the hallway.  He's also the kind who would need to be introduced to a dog show judge the night before the show so they would have been properly introduced when they met in the ring.  Since this isn't possible, he will be going up to Toronto to join his canine "aunt" who will be able to lead him into mischief... and he will have a regular play group with not only Missy but two of his canine cousins.  He will probably end up between 16 and 16 1/2 inches, close to 30 pounds and a champagne blonde with silver tipping on his ears and face.

Buster found the "feather" duster when he was 6 weeks (l) and was snoozing on the big guys' bed at 7 weeks (r)
"Dancer"

F - Sable

Dancer is a very "girlie girl" amongst her brothers - a rose among the thorns.  If she were a human girl, I can just see her at dancing school smoothing down her petticoats and shining her patent leather shoes.; instead, I hope she will dance around the show ring collecting ribbons and points!  While quiet compared to her brothers, she is very self-assured after (like Nike) pbserving any new situation.  It's hard to get a casual photo of her - she's usually either working on her beauty sleep or standing around practicing her modeling poses!  She is petite and will most likely finish up at around 14 1/2 inches and about 20 pounds., a more "dainty" version of her mother.

Dancer at 8 weeks  (color on left most accurate - she is losing the black tipping and overlay and will most likely end up a strawberry blonde with just a touch of silvery tipping on her ears and beard)

"Hair Jordan"

M3 - Black, white chin, chest, toes

Jordie is a very curious and outgoing guy - one of the few TT pups I have had that started early on to show an interest in rolling and chasing after a ball.  His coloring is becoming more interesting as time goes on... at 8 weeks he is very difficult to photograph as he has become quite silvery around his eyes and looks like a reverse raccoon, usually an indication the dog will turn all silver.  The silver doesn't photograph very well but instead makes it look like he has lost the hair around his eyes.  He will be living not far from me so I hope I have the chance to see him as he grows up.  His new family had a Bearded Collie that they kept in long hair so I hope they will be keeping him long as well so I can see how silver he finally turns.  It's been a long time since I had a true silver TT so it will be fun to see if my line still carries the genetics to produce it or if he stops at charcoal!

At 8 weeks, he figured out he didn't have to behave like a show dog - he had already chosen his family and will have two young men and their parents to play with and no serious responsibilties.  He will probably be about 16" tall and 24 ;bs full grown.

Jordan playing show dog at 7 weeks
At 7 weeks, Jordan was very willing to play show dog when he found it involved tidbits of raw hamburger!

"Sneakers"

M4 - black, white collar, blaze, feet

Sneakers is the character in the group.  He looks the most like grandma Lizzie of any of her descendents and shows every indication of being as "busy" as his grandmother was (she wasn't known as "Bizzy Lizzie" without good reason!).  He also reminds me of his uncle, Kathmandu's Lord Burlington, CD (puppy name "Troubles" <g>) as a youngster.  At two weeks, before his eyes were open, Sneakers was already adept at crawling out of the whelping box to go exploring.  Before he hit six weeks, he was adept at pulling himself over the barrier to the puppy room.  At seven weeks he managed to do this when my back was turned and get into the backyard to play with the "big guys" when they went out for the morning exercise.   Now he regularly interacts with them and ignores being told off - but is quite free in telling them off.  I hope he will tell the judges, as readily as he tells everyone else.  "Look at me!"  He will end up about 16 or a bit over and around 25 lbs.
